Come and spend a day with us on a journey back to our roots through the art of block printing with Tharangini ✨ It is a chance to grow and reconnect with the art by learning block printing history and practising its ancient techniques and process with the Artisans 🌺

Begin the day with Kolams, filter coffee and have conversations with the artisans on their skilled legacy and experience ☀️
Kolams are elaborate designs with dots and lines, typically drawn with rice flour and symbolise good luck 🍀🌈
10.30 am to 12.30 pm
Hand-carving seasoned teak wood into intricate block prints is a skill that takes decades to perfect. Meet master artisan Ramu anna, who has 3 decades of expertise in carving wood blocks 🪵 View some of the heritage blocks from Tharangini's archives that are more than 80 years old. He is one of only 3 wood block makers left in Bangalore 🌷
Working with Natural Dyes:
What colour do we get from Pomegranate peel? Banu & Yashodara, colour experts with a combined expertise of 40+ years demonstrate the art of making dyes from plants 🌱 Take a trip around the dye garden, and learn of their Ayurvedic and healing properties ✨🦋
Working with Tharangini's archival blocks and skilled block printers, you can print your own silk fabric piece using plant dyes. Once ready, the piece is steam cured and finished for you to carry home 🌸

An Ode to Kodava Cuisine with Chef Anjali Ganapathy
Kodava cuisine is reminiscent of a farming community’s evolution, and its deep connection to a rich landscape 🌱 Chef Anjali Ganapathy has created a menu for the day that features recipes passed down generations and highlights key flavours, whilst keeping the Coorg kitchen and its culinary roots at the heart of it all 🍲🤎
2 pm to 4 pm
More block printing! We explore the world of GOTS organic dyes, which is the industry standard for large-scale production. Using an array of colours, and wood blocks you can design a roomy tote bag. Print on handmade paper to make lovely bookmarks and cards 📄🌈
4 pm to 5 pm
We will be wrapping up the day with some soulful Carnatic music 🎙🎶

We have curated an immersive experience with art, fashion, music, and culture 🌻
Salma will be creating some interesting Henna designs inspired by Tharangini's woodblock carvings 🦋 You can sip on some Mountain Bee's Kombuchas 🐝 A gallery space with a collection of Tharangini's vintage blocks from the 40s and 50s and textiles of various handcrafted art forms to visually take in ✨🌺 A specially curated NB library with some of the rare find books from both No Borders and Tharangini's collection 📚☀️
