Come and spend a day with us on a journey back to our roots through the art of block printing with Tharangini ✨ It is a chance to grow and reconnect with the art by learning block printing history and practising its ancient techniques and process with the Artisans 🌺

10 am to 10.30 am
Begin the day with Kolams, filter coffee and have conversations with the artisans on their skilled legacy and experience ☀️
Kolams are elaborate designs with dots and lines, typically drawn with rice flour and symbolise good luck 🍀🌈

10.30 am to 12.30 pm
Hand-carving seasoned teak wood into intricate block prints is a skill that takes decades to perfect. Meet master artisan Ramu anna, who has 3 decades of expertise in carving wood blocks 🪵 View some of the heritage blocks from Tharangini's archives that are more than 80 years old. He is one of only 3 wood block makers left in Bangalore 🌷

Working with Natural Dyes:
What colour do we get from Pomegranate peel? Banu & Yashodara, colour experts with a combined expertise of 40+ years demonstrate the art of making dyes from plants 🌱 Take a trip around the dye garden, and learn of their Ayurvedic and healing properties ✨🦋

Working with Tharangini's archival blocks and skilled block printers, you can print your own silk fabric piece using plant dyes. Once ready, the piece is steam cured and finished for you to carry home 🌸
