Come and spend a day with us as we create a vibrant day full of music, dance, community, art and returning back to our roots through the art of block printing with Tharangini ✨ It is a chance to grow and reconnect with the art by learning block printing history and practicing its ancient techniques and process with the Artisans 🌺
10:30 - 11 am
A warm welcome with fresh coffee brewed with our friend Kerehaklu founded by Pranoy Thipaiah who is bringing a delightful roast with beans sourced from his farm in Chikmagalur. Kerehaklu a seed of the Thipaiah family that was been bringing biodiversity and agriculture in a harmonious way since 1953. Pranoy is curating an all-day coffee brew bar at the Tharangini studio which include their specialty coffee and fine Sri Lankan teas. The ethos is to showcase likeminded producers who raise the quality bar while bring mindful of their ecosystems.
Meet our artisans, explore the fresh summer blooms of the Tharangini Natural dye garden ☀️
11 am to 1 pm
Hand-carving seasoned teak wood into intricate block prints is a skill that takes decades to perfect. View some of the heritage blocks from Tharangini's archives that are more than 80 years old. He is one of only 3 wood block makers left in Bangalore 🌷
Tie-dye & Pattern dye session with Natural Dyes :
What color do we get from Pomegranate peel? Banu & Yashodara, color experts with a combined expertise of 40+ years demonstrate the art of making dyes from plants 🌱 Take a trip around the dye garden, and learn of their Ayurvedic and healing properties ✨🦋
Then you can print your own silk fabric piece using plant dyes.
- You will be learning about clamp dye, tie-dye, and pattern dyeing with our expert artisans.
- How to pre-treat and dye fabrics using Sappan wood, Iron Liquor, Harda (kadukai)
- How to prepare natural dye print pastes
- Finally once you're silk scarf is ready, the piece is steam cured and finished for you to carry home 🌸
1 pm to 3 pm
Picnic Spread with The Cubbon Table 🌮
Take a short break from Block printing and be lead up to our Lunch spread prepared by Shreya Chandra who runs The Cubbon Table, a home based food brand that prides itself on rustic, small batch, zero waste products that are carefully crafted using a majority of locally sourced ingredients.
The menu for the day is inspired by regional recipes from different parts of the globe, that focus on preservation and fermentation for the purpose of enhancing taste and natural shelf life. with recipes from South America, Karnataka, and Palestine. Cooked with the freshest local produce and with some fresh picks from the farm of Kerehaklu!
3 pm to 5 pm
- Take a tour into Tharangini's archive of blocks that date back to the 70's, get your hands on some of the most unique and one of a kind blocks we have curated for you that will be inspired around Bangalore flora and fauna 🌱🦋
- Pick up from the stack of tote bags we have kept for you, ready to block print on!
- The its time for block printing!
- We explore the world of GOTS organic dyes, which is the industry standard for large-scale production. Using an array of colours, and wood blocks you can design a roomy tote bags. 🌈
- Finally we will dry and treat your tote bags that you can take home with you 💛🌸
4:30 pm to 6:30 pm
Come out and dance with us to the groovy and vibtant mix played by our friend Aditi aka DJ Fushi who will be spinning a mix of sounds that intersect a cultural and genre boundaries. Expect a RnB grooves, infectious Afro/house rhythms, and her favourite tracks by Indian producers. 🎙🎶

Welcoming you to take this time to also join us and our beautiful friends at Aravani Art project who will be present all day, hanging out with us to create a memorable new Community mural, inviting all of you to pick up a brush anytime and join in. Aravani Art Project is a trans-women and cis-women led collective movement working towards enabling people from the transgender community through visual art, social experiments, and magic. They create a safe space for the people of Trans and LGBQIA+ community that encourage exchange, discussion, openness and debate surrounding gender identities.
