This embroidered Kantha tote bag is lovingly crafted by our Artisan Ajija Sultana, who is an independent Kantha artisan working with her mother and a group of women in her village to craft, train and design the art of Kantha.

We designed these easy-to-use Tote bags with her inspired by scenes that depict the local scenes of Bengal 🌺 The tote bag shows a day in the life of three women in Bengal inspired by Kantha artist Surayia Rahman. These artworks have been inspired by the Kantha artist Surayia Rahman, a revolutionary artist in Bangladesh. Rahaman has trained a lot of women in the region of West Bengal and Bangladesh in Kantha Embroidery during her time and these women have been carrying forward her work and legacy. The embroidery is a work of art that is first hand-drawn and transferred onto the fabric and then takes about 4-5 weeks to embroider. Kindly allow this time for them to send this to hand-craft and send it to you from Bengal.
