Collection: Anuradha Bhaumick

Anuradha Bhaumick’s embroidery art is a tender, intimate celebration of everyday life, where the mundane becomes poetic. Her work often portrays women in private, contemplative moments reading, bathing, lounging immersed in richly detailed inner sanctuaries of strength and solitude. Drawing inspiration from miniature interiors, literature, and her own cultural roots, she stitches scenes that feel nostalgic and comforting. A significant part of her practice involves using heirloom and donated fabrics Jaipuri indigos, Thai silks, ikats, and kantha giving her work both a sustainable and personal touch. She combines traditional embroidery stitches with painting, beading, and collage, layering textures and materials like muslin and poplin to create deeply expressive pieces. Her process is slow and meditative, working on one artwork at a time from photo references, sketching directly on fabric, and stitching her way through emotion and memory. Introduced to embroidery as a child, Bhaumick sees it not only as art but as therapy crafting safe, introspective spaces with every hoop. Her works, which often pay homage to beloved books and quiet rituals, resonate with viewers for their honesty, warmth, and the beauty they find in stillness.
