Collection: Kayamai

Kayamai is born out of the same notions. The word in ancient Tamil signals lowness, spitefulness, and vengefulness. While this holds negative connotations, for Aadhi, it needs to hold an almost paradoxical, opposite idea. She asks these questions every day through her practice and from herself: why is the world so hurtful? What can she do to make the world less hurtful? Most importantly, how can she develop ways to make the unheard, heard? Kayamai thus began from a Mathematics notebook where one day she drew her responses to these questions and reflected on a journey she wishes to take to unfurl them. She began with people and ideas close to her heart: mental health, children with disabilities, and marginalized communities in her immediate neighborhood of Sri Lanka.
