About the Artist

Tulika Saxena is a textile designer and postcard maker from New Delhi, India. Deeply inspired by the local flora and the memories she builds with them, the postcard project began in quarantine in 2020.
It explores ways to reinvent the postcard with a new visual language--- using something deeply familiar, tangible, and comforting like embroidery.
The postcard traditionally serves as a reminder of a visual memory that people share with loved ones. This new language of embroidery on postcards is extremely evocative of these memories we cherish which are often as fragile as the physical medium of paper itself, but creates something so beautiful to see, touch, feel and remember.

The modern postcard is not primarily a mode of communication, but rather a treasured belonging that brings back nostalgia and memories of another time, place, and people.
