Backyards, terraces and rooftops etc. form a huge part of the day to day south Asian culture. A significant part of the architecture of every home. Whether thats your nani/dadi  knitting in the afternoon with some cool nimbu paani or roohafza, your dad reading his morning newspaper with a cup of chai before going to work, an all cousins sleepover with charpai’s on the chatt/roof to escape the summer heat or the whole family hanging out over chai and samosay/pakoray in the backyard every evening.
