A Return to our Roots - Hometown Hemp Shirt in Sage Green

A Return to our Roots is an effort at embracing our land, protecting our ancestral skills, and going back to Mother Earth. The collection consists of wearable art pieces that aims to highlight the prominent crafts and skills of North Karnataka, as an ode to our roots, our hometown 🌼

Consciously created oversized Hemp shirt with hand embroidered Kasuti motifs that celebrates an ancient art form that dates back to the 6th century, native to North Karnataka 🌞

A product of Love - The Hometown Shirt is a celebration of our people, our women and our past stories🌻 The The shirt takes you through a journey of motifs very rooted to North Karnataka and The art of Kasuti 🌸 The embroidery was co-created with our women at Sakhi Saphalya, a non- profit that works in partnership with skilled women from neighbouring villages to empower them with the Kasuti craft. The fabric is lovingly made by our friends at the Hemp Fabric Lab, created at Bombay Hemp Company who are striving to make eco-friendly fabrics more accessible to all ✨We also got to bring our love for hand-crafted jewellery into these very special pieces by collaborating with Bhavya Ramesh on one-of-a-kind brass buttons made into the mangoes and chillies, all the way from Jaipur, Rajasthan 🛖

We designed this shirt to be embraced by all keeping it gender-neutral and season-less🌻⛅️The fabric adapts to all weather types making it your favourite piece all through the year ☀️✨The garment naturally falls to appeal many body types and the hemp fabric to be super gentle and ads a healing component to your skin 🕊️

The shirt tells the tales of Kasuti, using very traditional Kasuti motifs created by the women of the 6th century, that you will see with a name in English and Kannada throughout the garment 🧚🏾Embroidered using anchor threads in colours that bring a cheer to our hearts when worn ✨🌷

We had to consciously create these pieces to enhance and uphold the unique individual quality each piece carries. Because it’s done by hand and how every artisan has her own story woven into what she stitches, which makes it a clothing to treasure 🌺🪡

Model is wearing S-M. We styled this breezy shirt with some of our most treasured vintage treasures that we have collected through out the world over the last four years. Rupal layers the sage green hemp shirt over our black cotton sweatshirt wearing a Lacrosse Plaid pants from the 80s' 🌺 Kripali gracefully carries the hometown shirt also layered on top of our Stories of Ancestors sweatshirt, paired with a vintage midi skirt from the 60s', a family hand-me-down 🧚🏾

Our artisans tirelessly work to create hand told embroidery on our sweatshirts 🧚🏾 Kindly allow them a minimum of 60 days for us to make your very special work of art. You might find slight variations in the pieces as each of them is one of a kind and handmade🌸
