A Return to our Roots is an effort at embracing our land, protecting our ancestral skills, and going back to Mother Earth. The collection aims to highlight the prominent crafts and skills of North Karnataka, as an ode to our roots, our hometown 🌼

We created these very limited range of bright coloured market bags, purely handmade, when we visited the women of Navalgund, who have been practicing generational crafts in their tiny homes, for so many years🌷🌷We got acquainted to these women by the help of our most favourite Navalgund Dhurrie artisans, Akkamma and Farzana, who have been inspiring the entire village to create art and be independent women 🥀

 These crochet bags have been a staple piece of carrier in every household through South India, and especially seen carried by farmers, villagers, workers, sellers and other rural men & women 🥀 The bags are so popular among the workers because of its multi-purpose feature, its sturdiness, durability, and easy wash & care 🌼 The technique of making these bags has been passed down generations and continues to be used by all age groups in the family 🌺 Needless to say, the bright colours and the beautiful patterns on these bags, made it irresistible for us to not share it with our global community 🧚🏾‍♀️💕

These bags have been made using locally sourced plastic crochet wires in Navalgund by the women, and can be recycled or reused 🌼 The plastic was a deliberate choice for these bags to enhance its strength, its life and sustain through everyday usage or harsh weathers. Although these bags last a lifetime, they do tend to naturally fade in colour, if not cared for, over a long span of time, from natural abrasion and weather conditions. We recommend avoiding the rains, or exposing the bag to harsh sunlight and storing the bag in a cool, dry place to keep its vibrancy everlasting ✨🧚🏾‍♀️

Our artisans tirelessly work to create these hand told crocheted bags 🧚🏾 Kindly allow them a minimum of 15 days for us to make your very special work of art. You might find slight variations in the pieces as each of them is one of a kind and handmade 🌸
