Who we are
Daak is a collection of unknown stories, artworks and ideas from women and men who have shaped the Indian subcontinent’s cultural heritage. It is an attempt to curate and revive original artistic creations which are deeply profound, characteristically humourous and always, uniquely subcontinental 🦋

When we started
Daak started five years ago, with a single newsletter with a mission - to introduce lesser known artists and writers from the subcontinent's history to a wider readership. With our Instagram and Twitter, we started as a weekly newsletter appreciating South Asian literature and art and from there we grew - little by little.
The start of our journey into merchandise was the simple act of sending postcards. We did a large postcrossing exercise a few years ago and wrote postcards to our then-small group of 500 readers. Not all of them got the postcards, but those that did sent us many delightful photos. We had then only printed a small batch of our signature postcards, but readers wanted more. We have since sold thousands of our postcards and much more - a poetry calendar, fragrances, gift items - all inspired by the literary and artistic treasure trove that South Asia holds.
