Nivaala was born with a mission to inspire people to record their family recipes as heirlooms and ultimately, incorporate them into their lives, like pieces of jewellery, or carefully preserved saris, handed down through the generations.

How we started
If anything that the last couple of years has taught us is that mortality is real. When people leave, they take with them a lot of things. And recipes are one of them. The food that we love to eat sometimes ceases to exist.
This is why I created Nivaala.
A few years ago when I lost my mum, I realised that I hadn't written down or learnt any of our family recipes. And that’s true for a lot of people of our generation, where we haven’t spent that kind of time in the kitchen cooking or learning. But mum’s food is the ultimate comfort food, right.
